Enola Holmes 2 movie Review

Rotten Tomatoes: 92%

IMDb: 6.9/10

The plot is a little complicated, but no more so than most detective stories. Finally, it’s a solid mystery, well explained by Enola in her fourth-wall-breaking conversations with the audience. The pairing of actor and role here is nearly perfect, and it’s as much of a breakthrough performance for Brown as her breakout performance in “Stranger Things.” Her Enola is a joy to be around, whether she’s running, fighting, flirting, deciphering clues, or attempting to understand the rituals and habits of people who don’t spend their days solving crimes.

‘Enola Holmes 2’ is PG-13 due to some violence and bloody images. 2 hours and 9 minutes and are Available on Netflix.

Story Plot in Brief

Taking a cue from the source novels written by Nancy Springer, this film is an original story based on the true events of the 1888 matchgirls’ strike in England. As a major event in labour rights, you would expect that might turn this into a preachy message movie, but Thorne keeps the story intricate and full of clues and red herrings that keep the mystery intriguing while still feeling like a classic Sir Arthur Conan Doyle tale. It also helps that Sherlock Holmes plays a far larger presence in this movie. Henry Cavill is excellent as the elder Holmes and we get to see him do a lot more with the character as well as foster a relationship with his sister. Cavill and Brown both have obvious screen presence and play off of each other very well.

Enola starts her own detective agency but struggles to get clients, finding herself in the shadow of her brother, famous detective Sherlock Holmes (Henry Cavill). A girl asks Enola to help find her missing sister.
