Dwayne Johnson makes his big screen debut as a superhero in Black Adam. He plays Teth-Adam, also known as Black Adam, an ancient Anti-hero.

The story of bringing back a superhero from your childhood to protect your city’s current-day scenario begins on an interesting note. But quickly becomes monotonous, eventually becoming mundane.

Pierce Brosnan as Fate tries his level best to level it up. But can’t expect more with his performance as a supporting cast, which isn’t memorable. Noah Centineo’s Atom Smasher does everything Hulk has already shown in a tonne of times, nothing new.

Aldis Hodge, who plays Hawkman, tries to lead the JSA (Justice Society of America) but fails to impress. 

After all is said and done, Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam is at least a decade too late to make an impression on viewers. Still it got successful due to Johnson’s presence and lack of competition.

Story plot in brief

Black Adam interacts with and clashes with the Justice Society of America on his own. However, the antihero and JSA are expected to work together against a greater foe, Sabbac (Kenzari).

Teth Adam was bestowed with the gods’ almighty powers in ancient Kahndaq. He was imprisoned after using these powers for vengeance, and thus became Black Adam. After nearly 5,000 years, Black Adam has passed from man to myth to legend. Now that he is free, his unique brand of justice, born of rage, is challenged by Hawkman, Dr Fate, Atom Smasher, and Cyclone, members of the Justice Society.

Teth-Adam lived in Kahndaq 5000 years ago and has since reappeared. Shazam, the wizard of the same name played by Djimon Hounsou, bestowed him with powers in the comics and the film. In the comics, Black Adam is Shazam’s main foe, but he also clashes with Superman on occasion. Black Adam has a tragic backstory. He reawakens in the modern world after being imprisoned for 5000 years and is enraged. He encounters the Justice Society of America.

Release Date

‘Black Adam’ had released on October 20 in India and many other countries. It opens in North America a day later, on October 21.

‘Black Adam’ is directed by Spanish-American Jaume Collet-Serra. He employs a script written by Adam Sztykiel, Rory Haines, and Sohrab Noshirvani in ‘Black Adam.’ The cinematography is being handled by Lawrence Sher, who won acclaim and an Oscar nomination for his work on ‘Joker.’ The editors are Michael L. Sale and John Lee. The music was composed by Lorne Balfe.

Box office collection

Black Adam grossed an additional $39 million in 21,207 theatres in 76 overseas markets. This raises the international total to $139.3 million, bringing the total to $250.3 million. Black Adam grossed $27.5 million this weekend, more than enough to be the No. 1

This brings Black Adam’s ten-day total to nearly $111 million, ranking it seventh among October releases. 

In India where MCU doing very well has also welcome the Black Adam Movie. The next domestic collection of Black Adam in India is 41.75 crores (49.26 crores gross) in 11 days, with the English version leading the way, followed by its native language Hindi.

Black Adam by DC and Warner Bros. easily topped the Halloween weekend box office, though the superhero film performed better than expected given its lack of competition.
