On Sunday morning, President Joe Biden approved an emergency on the US island. Also ordered an emergency response and disaster relief including the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Bink said FEMA’s response is dual-focused, including emergency generation and power missions for critical facilities. Also ensuring a command and control structure in place for things like search and rescue. Emergency power generations and long-term needs once the island moves into recovery.

The Dominican Republic is also expected to be affected by torrential rains and mudslides as the hurricane makes its way northwest, as well as the Turks and Caicos Islands.
